Enthusiasts can try the iOS 18 Beta to taste the upcoming major operating system update ahead of its release. Here’s everything you need to know about iOS 18 Beta’s release, the iPhones you can test it on, and more.

iOS Beta tests are a great way of finding bugs and glitches in the operating system before it officially gets labeled as a stable update and rolls out for iPhones. Apple iPhone 16 series is fast approaching and iOS 18 is the update everyone is looking forward to.

The eighteenth iOS update will bring new changes to the table, some of which include AI-related improvements. We all will get to see it officially getting revealed on June 10, 2024, at WWDC 2024.

iOS 18 Beta release date

iOS 18 Beta was released on June 10, 2024, shortly after the WWDC 2024 event was aired.

Apple has historically released all their developer betas in June after a few hours of their annual WWDC keynote gets streamed. And it was the same this time around.

All iOS 18 Beta types

iOS 18 Betas will come in two types:

  • iOS 18 developer beta
  • iOS 18 public beta

As the name suggests, developer beta is only for developers and early testers – to gather first impressions of the new iOS from experienced people.

Public beta gets released after a few days of the developer beta, between end of June to mid-July. This version of the beta gets released after the initial bugs are ironed out, and the iOS is more suitable for public testing.
