iOS 18 Beta 3 has finally been released for registered developers and brings several changes to the table.
Before iOS 18 officially rolls out with iPhone 16 in September, Apple is conducting several rounds of beta testing to make sure everything is perfect before the stable version rolls out.
As soon as WWDC 2024 came to an end, the developer build of iOS 18 Beta 1 was made available. Finally, Apple released iOS 18 Beta 3 on July 8, and here are all the changes it brought along.
iOS 18 Beta 3 size
The download size of iOS Beta 3 is 1.18 GB. Considering the sizes of the last two betas, the file size is comparatively small.
Build number and Modem Firmware
The build number of this update is 22A5307f. Its Modem Firmware version is 2.14.01.
What’s new in iOS 18 Beta 3
iOS 18 Beta 3 introduced new features such as:
- New Dark Mode Maps icon
- Dark mode icon support for a larger pool of third-party apps
- Keyboard change with a rounder Search Emoji bar and larger emojis
- Dynamic wallpapers
- Larger Flashlight UI
- Fitness app changes
- Custom Move Goal > Move Goal Schedule
- Daily > Basic
- Fonts of days of the week are larger
- Set Move Goal > Set Move Goal Schedule
- Calorie difference ramped up to 20 from 10
- Photos App changes
- Select button appears by default and you don’t need to pull down the screen
- Search button is now blue
- Select and Search buttons changed positions
- Rounded edge from photos removed
- Animated how-to guide in Control Center
- The opacity of Control Center icons and bars are reduced a bit
- Network Section of Control Center has arrows to easily interchange positions of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirDrop, Satellite, and more.
- Enhanced Podcast app changes with faster search and easier-to-share media
- Shortcuts app has new fading animations when you tap on ‘+’
- Screen time fixed
As per the release notes, Beta 3 also includes a plethora of fixes for audio, Calculator, Camera, CarPlay, Control Center, and a lot more.
Does iOS 18 Beta 4 have a release date?
At the time of writing, iOS 18 Beta 4 doesn’t have an exact release date yet.
However, for the past few years, Apple has been following a 3-week gap between Beta 3 and Beta 4’s release. If that’s the case in 2024, we can expect it during the last week of July.
