Why did Apple delay iOS 18 AI features release

Apple has delayed its AI (Apple Intelligence) feature release and will miss its initial launch time alongside iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Here’s why.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the AI feature is now scheduled to be released alongside the iOS 18.1 update instead. Apple is most likely to look forward to fixing some more bugs, ensuring a clean release for users.

Following the report of AI’s delay, numerous fans were a bit worried about the iPhone 16’s launch date. Fortunately enough, according to Gurman’s report, Apple will not delay the release of its upcoming iPhone models in 2024.

Apple wants to ensure a smooth AI (Apple Intelligence) experience

Initially, Apple announced to launch of its AI (Apple Intelligence) feature at the annual keynote alongside the launch of iOS 18 in September. However, it got delayed till October because of a few reasons:

  • Since this upcoming Intelligence feature is expected to provide a massive upgrade to users, Apple’s main concern is to provide a smooth AI experience.
  • Meanwhile, Apple is expecting a huge amount of support from its developers to resolve any existing bugs in AI on a broader scale.

Hence, it’s quite evident that the company’s main concern is still the stability of the intelligence. That’s what drove them to delay the initial release of the AI feature for weeks.

As discussed, the company is solely focusing on the bigger aspect of the feature to make it stable in the long run.
