iPhone 17 Slim: All details we know so far

Many rumors suggest Apple plans to release an iPhone 17 Slim model in 2025. Here’s everything we know about this rumored version of iPhone 17 so far.

The iPhone 16 series is the talk of the town in 2024. Thanks to all the Apple Intelligence features it will bring along, we will see significant changes in the operating system, including heavy customizations – something Apple users have long wanted.

However, certain rumors about the iPhone 17 series have already started circulating. There’s a chance we might see a thinner version of the phone in 2025, and if released, it could set new standards in the smartphone market.

Possible release window

The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to release during fall 2025, which is in either September or October. We know this because Apple always launches its latest iPhones during that time of the year, through their keynote.

How much would the iPhone 17 Slim cost?

Well-known leaker IceUniverse suggests that the iPhone 17 Slim will be priced much higher than the regular lineup, and that includes the Pro models.

According to this report, the iPhone 17 Slim will be the costliest version of all models, priced at $1,299.

According to Weibo, this is what the iPhone 17 series will be priced like:

  • iPhone 17: $799
  • iPhone 17 Pro: $1,099
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,199
  • iPhone 17 Slim: $1,299

iPhone 17 Slim or iPhone 17 Air: What will it be called?

Right now, it’s uncertain what the final name of the device is going to be. ‘iPhone 17 Slim’ is the term most used by industry people and several reports. But Jon Prosser on his FrontPageTech (fpt.) YouTube channel claimed it will be named ‘iPhone 17 Air’.

What would be its design like?

IceUniverse also suggests that all iPhone 17 models will be equipped with a LTPO panel. This means every iPhone 17 will have a 120Hz variable refresh rate with the possibility of AOD (Always On Display) support.

Mark Gurman, Bloomberg’s Apple analyst, said, “Apple is now focused on developing a significantly skinnier phone in time for the iPhone 17 line in 2025.” He further added, “It’s also working to make the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch thinner.”

Ross Young, DSCC analyst, said the iPhone 17 Slim will have a 6.55-inch display. This will serve as the middle point between the base variants with 6.1-inch displays and the Pro models with 6.7-inch displays.

At the time of writing, these leaks and rumors are to be taken with a pinch of salt until Apple confirms them officially. It could very well happen that the tech giant decides to push these updates further.

While these details are out of the way, here’s why Apple delayed the release of iOS 18 AI features.
